Tip 1: Find a couple of things that you have always wanted to do, and do it.

Make sure that these things will not only keep you busy for a good part of the day, but also serve as a platform for self-improvement. Keep your hands full in worthwhile endeavors to enrich your life and nip that desire to call your ex for any old excuse in a bud.

Tip 2: Keep pleasantries to a minimum

After a month or so of pursuing things that you want for yourself, start opening yourself up to the possibility of being friends with your ex. Now that you are doing better, you are also ready to become the bigger person. However, you should only allow conversation between the two of you to last a maximum of 3 minutes, once every 2 weeks. You want to pique your ex’s interest and not make him or her feel like you are full of yourself. This means that whatever happens, curb the urge to show off. Let your ex see the improvements for himself or herself. That is infinitely more impressive.

Tip 3: Make yourself pretty

People are visual creatures and are easily impressed by individuals who look like they care enough to invest in themselves. Join a gym or a fitness club. Give your wardrobe a thorough overhaul. Look for a more flattering haircut. Carry this new you with ease and casualness. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Being a ham is just as much of a turn-off as being ugly.

Tip 4: Start agreeing to hang out with your ex again

After about a month of doing the first 3, start accepting invitations to go out with your ex again. However, space these dates strategically. Also, for every date your ex cancels, you do the same twice. By cancelling back, it means finding another date and going out with that person. Don’t spend it at home moping or you will have ruined everything you’ve worked hard for. Seeing just how easily he or she can lose you, your ex will be pretty keen on getting back together with you.

Tip 5: Go ahead and make your move

Reap the rewards of your labor. Open yourself up to a sincere and long-lasting relationship. Be sure to avoid the same mistakes you did in the past. Treat this like a new relationship and start fresh.
