Matrix Socolor

Can I use any brand of developer with Matrix SoColor? Or must it be a Matrix developer?
I understand it’s meant for professionals, but I’m curious if any developer can be used with any hair color, or must it be the same brand? As a side note, does anyone know that ratio for SoColor to developer? Is it 1:1? Thanks.
You can use any developer with Matrix Socolor as long as it is a creme based one, it works best because it is easier to mix and get the correct consistency.
The volume of developer depends on how light or dark your hair is:
10 Volume is for deposit only- if you want you color to the same depth or darker.
20 Volume is for one level of lift- if you want your hair 1 shade lighter
30 Volume – 2 shades lighter
40 Volume – blonde shades.
The ratio for Socolor is 1:1 BUT
If you are using any of their high lift blondes the ratio is 2 parts developer to 1 part color

I was also wondering if I can mix Matrix SoColor Honey Cream (#4A) with SoColor Permanent Cream (#2) to get a dark ash brown? If not, what do you recommend in the SoColor line that will result in a dark ash brown that is darker than 4A?
